About Travel Baby Amsterdam
How Travel Baby Amsterdam was founded
Being a wanderlust mother with two children I personally know what it’s like to be travelling and to be in need of baby equipment. Certain essentials such as a crib, a push chair and a high chair can be life savers when travelling with young children.
Daughter Lova was born in December 2009 and son Keke was born in June 2012.
Travel Baby Amsterdam was founded after a trip to South Africa. In 2011 we visited South-Africa for a longer period of time. Together with my husband we organized off-road motorbike trips in the Capetown area. Quite an adventurous business we were in at that moment.
On this particular trip in 2011 we decided to bring our 2-year daughter with us. Since we would be away from home for a couple of weeks, we needed some baby equipment for our apartment and “on the road”. We would be travelling a lot: 1.500 kilometers per week for 6 weeks long. So we decided to rent a portable travel cot and a car seat.
Story continues below the photo.
We did a Google search and found a small rental shop in the suburbs of Capetown. We were very happy to find out they rented decent baby gear. The rental gear was clean and safe. And after 6 weeks we returned the gear to our full satisfaction.
The rental gear company in Capetown started a small spark and when we came back from our trip in South-Africa we started thinking about starting our own rental busines in Amsterdam. At that time using baby rental gear was not that common as it is now. We started it as an experiment and Travel Baby Amsterdam was founded in 2012.
Starting small and loving our new company (we sometimes call it our 3rd child), we found out that there definitely was a market for baby rental equipment. Growing slowly over the years Travel baby Amsterdam now found it’s place at Matka (home for children and parents) at Spaarndammerstraat 43 in Amsterdam.
Travel Baby Amsterdam now stands for high-quality rental products.
